On Friday 1st February 2013 Embrace helped run a corporate volunteer event for over 30 staff from KPMG plus volunteers from Embrace and the local community.

KPMG is a leading provider of professional services including audit, tax and advisory in UK (website: http://www.kpmg.com/uk/en/pages/default.aspx).

The volunteers did a great job help at The Lodge 57 Crown Lane (website: http://www.crownlane.lambeth.sch.uk/childrenscentre/lodge) Streatham, London. The volunteers did various tasks at the Lodge including outside work in the garden. Helping to make the garden ready for activities for children in the Lodge garden. Plus inside the volunteers did tasks such as cutting and laminating displays / resources for future activities with children and cleaning areas of the Lodge.

The Lodge site is being developed by Crown Lane Primary School & Children’s Centre, who are working in partnership with Lambeth Parks, Friends of Streatham Common, Lambeth Children’s Services and other local organisations to bring the site back into use. The Lodge will provide services for the benefit of the local community and particularly families with children under five who live close by. It will become a hub for outdoor learning and play, with support services to meet the needs of local children and families.  It will promote care and protection of the natural environment and positive activities on the Common.

The KPMG volunteers also helped on Streatham Common under the guidance of staff from Lambeth Parks Department. The volunteers on Streatham Common pruned trees and cut back shrubs in order to make the Common a safer place and encourage more wildlife biodiversity.

The volunteer day was also coordinated with the help of volunteering charity CSV.
