Free Beginner Photography Walk (Part of Lost Stories of Ruskin Park Project)

Understanding how to take photos with your camera can sometimes be confusing, with digital camera equipment now including a whole host of varying functions.
This photography walk will take you on a series of exercises to get to know these functions, with the assistance of a professional photographer and help get you on the gateway to taking better photography.

New Embrace community project – Embrace Urban Photography

Embrace Social Enterprises Ltd have now have a new 3 month digital photography community project in Lambeth & Southwark, South London starting early May. In which we will run 15 free digital photography workshops.

This is a free workshop but we are asking for people wishing to attend to pay a £10 returnable (if you attend) deposit.

This workshop will be filmed for our new PR film about our photography workshops and on this course we will ask participants to help us with the filming process. This will include setting up set situations and short interviews about your experience on this workshop.

This training course is aimed at beginners and intermediate photographers.

On this workshop participants will look at how to create a series of photos using a simple theme in order to make your photography more interesting to other people.

The workshop will show you how to develop your portfolio online and in print.

Participants will be introduced to online methods and printed presentation methods (Looking at other photographers work)

Participants are to bring their own cameras to participate in a practical exercise where we will make a series of images to demonstrate ‘concept’ within a photographic project.

The main areas covered will be online methods of presentation, technical styles, printing methods.

Workshop Tutor:

Claire Weir is an Irish/Australian Photographer who hold a BA in Photography. Shortlisted for the 2005 Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year, 2007 Student Photographer of the Year in the 3G Student Media Awards and Nominated for the 2008 Nikon Academy Photographic Student of the Year.

Claires motivations in her own photographic practice rely on documenting the every day and the extraordinary in the ordinary, striving to produce images that question and evoke reaction. Commercially Claire is involved in Film & Tv, Music and Editorial projects commissioned by clients such as Amnesty International, FrontLineDefenders, Channel4, RTÉ, State.ie and many others.

This half day course will look specifically at macro (close-up) digital photography techniques.
